Primary objective
Provide best practices for fleet (vehicles, equipment and PPC/PPE) management services including assisting in the
preparation of procurement and contract management activities (quotation/tenders, contract administration) and
management of the Vehicle Replacement Program for Bushfires NT’s 20 Volunteer Bushfire Brigades and staff firefighting
vehicles and for personal protective clothing and equipment. Collating and reporting on data for related programs.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Manage the Bushfires NT Volunteer Bushfire Fleet of 120 grassfire units and medium attack trucks ensuring vehicles
meet requirements. Liaising with external contractors to ensure service and maintenance of assets and equipment is
carried out in a professional and timely manner.
2. Liaise with the Business and Logistics Manager and assist in facilitating the preparation of tender/quote documents and
coordinate tender specific evaluation reports, work with procurement panel to undertake an assessment to ensure
specifications are accurate and aligned with NTG procurement rules and guidelines.
3. Implement new grass fire unit vehicles from prototype phase to production phase, ensuring stakeholder feedback is
consolidated and utilised.
4. Maintain vehicle replacement program databases to support maintenance and replacement schedules, and document
and provide reports to Senior Management on Volunteer Bushfire Brigades equipment and vehicle status.
5. Draft, implement, maintain and improve policies, systems, guidelines and procedures to ensure effective asset
management.
6. Manage and coordinate the stocking and distribution of personal protective clothing and equipment to new and existing
Bushfires NT Members through the personal protective clothing and equipment replacement program.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. High level written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to liaise effectively at all levels, with various
stakeholders and with varying cultures.
2. Sound knowledge of procurement process including sourcing, tendering and contract management and the need to
ensure legal and policy compliance for procurement activity.
3. Demonstrated ability to apply financial principles, policies, standards and WHS legislation.
4. Knowledge of repairs and maintenance, minor new works and capital works programming.
5. Sound problem solving, decision-making and negotiation skills to achieve results for the work unit.
6. Ability to undertake research and analysis data with attention to detail.
7. Proven ability to work under pressure with limited direction and manage competing priorities, to produce high quality
output within tight timeframes.
Desirable
1. An understanding of Bushfires Management Act 2016 and Regulations.
2. Heavy vehicle licences.
