The Role
Responsible for producing high-quality sewn products, using industrial sewing machines and related equipment. This role requires precision, attention to detail, and a strong commitment to meeting production schedules and quality standards.
The machinist plays a key role in creating custom-made products such as covers, awnings, tarps, shades, and other textile-based items used across various industries.
- Manufacturing custom covers, tarpaulins, bags and industrial textile products
- Sewing PVC, canvas, shade cloth, acrylic canvas and other heavy fabrics
- Installing zips, Velcro, webbing, kedar, reinforcement and other fittings
- Completing repairs and custom one-off projects
- Operate industrial sewing machines to assemble, join, hem, or repair textile products
- Interpret work orders, design patterns, and work instructions
- Select appropriate materials, threads, needles, and machine settings for each job
- Inspect finished products to ensure quality, durability, and compliance with company standards
- Working independently and as part of our production team
- Follow workplace health and safety guidelines at all times
- Record production activities, materials used, and job completion data accurately
- Assist with inventory control of fabrics, threads, and other materials
- Suggest improvements to sewing techniques, processes, and workflow efficiency
Remuneration based on experience/ skills will apply, where we are traditionally happy to pay above the award for the right staff.
