Your New Role
Reporting to the Head of Macro Rates, this role will develop investment recommendations across select Developed and Developing Markets exposures within FIC’s macro fundamental strategy. This will be supported by macroeconomic, policy and market research, including implementation options and contributions to risk management, performance and reporting.
This is a permanent role ideally based in Melbourne however Sydney and Brisbane will also be considered.
Key responsibilities include:
- Developing investment recommendations for the Head of Macro Rates across select active duration, curve and country relative value positions;
- Conducting macroeconomic research and analysis on select economies, focusing on financial market implications and investment opportunities related to interest rate exposures;
- Preparing periodic management reports on strategy, exposure, portfolio activity and performance, and contributing to Committee papers and internal forums on macroeconomics, financial markets and asset allocation in FIC portfolios;
- Supporting the Head of Macro Rates in managing exposures, including portfolio construction, risk modelling, performance measurement and attribution analysis;
Collaborating with the Liquidity & Implementation team to optimise implementation and execution of investment strategies, including monitoring liquidity parameters and RG97 costs.

What You’ll Need
- Experience in analysis of economies and financial markets, preferably with demonstrated exposure to fixed income markets from a bank, institutional investment manager, or related organisation;
- Exceptional macroeconomic analytical skills, with a solid understanding of investment instruments and financial markets, especially derivatives;
- Demonstrated capacity to apply macro research to Developed Markets’ financial market implications; and generate research supported investment recommendations;
- Strong quantitative modelling and database management skills;
- Ability to synthesize complex information from a broad and diverse investment universe into concise investable conclusions and communicate them in a comprehensible manner;
- Superior tertiary level qualification(s) in Commerce, Economics, Business, Finance or related discipline;
- Post-graduate level qualification(s) in Finance or related disciplines (eg. CFA) desirable;
- Experience in preparation and delivery of reports and/or research findings;
Experience in Advanced use of MS Office products and investment system/s especially Excel and Bloomberg.
