About the role
Liaising with the Care Manager and Residential Services Manager, you will provide leadership, guidance, coaching and mentoring to Nurses and Personal Carers to ensure a holistic person centred service and support process, that aligns with the SCC Better for Life model as well as being tailored to meet each resident’s needs, goals and preferences.
Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to;
Working positively and collaboratively with other staff and qualified practitioners to provide proactive, holistic and person centred service and support, that is safe and effective, for residents
Listening to residents (and their representatives) about their needs, goals and preferences and working collaboratively, and in partnership, with them to develop a safe and effective care and service plan
Maintaining current knowledge of contemporary best practice clinical care and maintaining records of professional development to meet AHPRA requirements
Coordinating the on-boarding process for all new care and nursing employees plus agency staff to ensure an appropriate orientation into SCC’s Better for Life model, policies and procedures appropriate for their role including an understanding of their job requirements
Monitoring SCC’s processes to ensure nursing and care staff read and comply with all policies, procedures and work instructions relevant to them
Meeting and exceeding all relevant standards, regulations and laws, and contributing to our continuous improvement plans

About you
We are looking for people who will be the difference in the lives of our residents and clients.
The successful candidate will have the following skills and experience;
Bachelor of Nursing with current AHPRA registration as an Registered Nurse
Current First Aid Certificate (HLTAID011) & current CPR Certificate (HLTAID009)
Previous experience working as a Registered Nurse with supervisory, leadership responsibilities in an aged care environment
Demonstrated best practice clinical management skills appropriate to the role
Ability to remain calm and to make rational decisions in emergency situations
Strong interpersonal and leadership skills in order to provide sound direction, guidance and mentoring/coaching to staff
Sound time management skills in order to manage own workload to meet deadlines and to support other staff
Outstanding decision making, negotiation and problem solving skills to balance supporting resident’s desire for independence and self determination to make their own choices against potential risks and duty of care
Comprehensive understanding of the requirements to support residents living with dementia including those who display challenging behaviours
Excellent knowledge of the Aged Care Standards particularly those that relate to accreditation
