About the role
The School Counsellor provides confidential, professional counselling and wellbeing support to students across year level 6-12. You will play a key role in fostering a safe, inclusive and caring school culture.
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing individual counselling to students on personal, social, emotional and academic matters
- Developing and delivering wellbeing programs
- Working collaboratively with teachers, families and leadership to support student outcomes
- Maintaining accurate, confidential case records in line with professional and legal standards
- Contributing to the school's child safety and wellbeing framework
Essential requirements
- Current registration as a counsellor with a recognised professional body (e.g. ACA, PACFA, or AHPRA as applicable)
- Relevant tertiary qualification in counselling, psychology or a related field
- A current, valid Working with Children Check (WWCC)
- Demonstrated experience counselling children and adolescents, ideally in a school setting
- Understanding of, and respect for, the values and ethos of an Islamic school community
- Strong interpersonal, communication and confidentiality skills
Desirable
- Experience working within culturally and linguistically diverse communities
- Familiarity with school-based wellbeing programs and referral pathways

Pay: $65,258.16 – $70,000.00 per year
