Destination and Business Engagement Advisor
Shape the Future of Economic Growth and Tourism
The City of Melville is seeking an experienced advisor to drive a strategic reset of our Business Development and Tourism portfolios.
Over the next 12 months, you will facilitate the redesign of programs, services and partnerships, to support economic growth, and tourism development across the City.
Working closely with internal stakeholders, partners, and the business community, you will establish a clear, and outcomes-focused approach that aligns with the Council Plan and Destination Strategy.
Location: City of Melville Civic Centre
Salary: Level 8 $111,556.54 to $117,880.14 pro-rata p.a. + 12% Super
Employment Type: Temporary Full Time or Part Time
What You’ll Be Doing
- Review and assess current business development programs and services, identifying gaps, duplication, and opportunities for improvement.
- Integrate tourism, business engagement, and economic activation into a coordinated and outcomes-driven approach.
- Progress priority actions within the Tourism and Destination Strategy.
- Identify and advance opportunities for tourism product development, visitor experiences, and strategic partnerships.
- Engage with local businesses to understand challenges, opportunities, and emerging needs.
- Align business-facing communications with broader City initiatives and economic development objectives.
- Contribute to the evolution of events, activation programs, and visitation initiatives to maximise economic impact.
- Work collaboratively across the organisation to align initiatives that impact businesses and visitors.
What We’re Looking For
Essential Requirements
- Demonstrated experience in Communications, Economic Development, Tourism, Place Activation, or a related field.
- Experience designing, reviewing, or resetting programs, services, or operating models.
- Strong stakeholder engagement, facilitation, and partnership development skills.
- Proven ability to translate strategic priorities into practical and deliverable initiatives.
Desirable Requirements
- Experience working within, or in partnership with, local or state government.
- Knowledge of tourism development, visitor economy strategies, and destination marketing.
- Experience in precinct activation, event strategy, or event attraction.
