Sonic HealthPlus | Defence Force Recruiting (DFR) Operations Full-Time | National Role
Backed by the world-leading Sonic Healthcare network, Sonic HealthPlus partners with businesses to provide a range of onsite and in-clinic occupational and corporate healthcare services. Sonic HealthPlus is committed to fostering a supportive, inclusive and collaborative workplace where our people thrive. Whether you're wanting to advance your career, develop new skills or looking to make a meaningful difference in your communities, you'll be empowered to grow and succeed with us.
We offer competitive remuneration, ongoing professional development and flexible working opportunities where possible, all within a supportive team culture built on integrity, excellence and care.
About the Role
Sonic HealthPlus is seeking an experienced and commercially minded operational leader to join our Defence Force Recruiting (DFR) Operations team as Deputy National Operations Manager.
Acting as 2IC to the Head of DFR Operations, this is a genuine leadership opportunity for someone who thrives on complexity, enjoys working across a large, geographically dispersed network, and wants to make a real impact on how we deliver Psychology and Medical services nationally.
You'll play a critical role in turning national strategy into operational reality — driving performance, consistency and continuous improvement across our State and Operations Managers, Practice Managers, and project teams. You'll also step into the Head of DFR Operations' shoes when needed, providing continuity of leadership and representing the function with key stakeholders.
What You'll Be Doing
-
Providing operational leadership and support across the national DFR business as 2IC to the Head of DFR Operations
-
Translating national strategy into practical, measurable operational plans
-
Monitoring performance against KPIs and driving corrective action where needed
-
Leading and coordinating strategic initiatives, projects and continuous improvement programs
-
Coaching and mentoring Regional Operations and Practice Managers
-
Building and maintaining strong relationships with DFR and other key stakeholders
-
Overseeing compliance, risk and quality outcomes across the operational network
-
Preparing performance reporting and supporting national governance and decision-making
-
Acting as delegate for the National Operations Manager during periods of absence
About You
You're a highly capable operational leader who's ready to operate at a national level. You bring:
-
Proven experience leading multi-site or geographically dispersed operations
-
A track record of translating strategy into practical execution
-
Strong commercial acumen and a focus on measurable business outcomes
-
The ability to influence and lead without relying solely on positional authority
-
Confidence using data and evidence to drive performance and decision-making
-
A collaborative style that builds trust across clinical, operational and corporate teams
-
Excellent organisational skills and a strong sense of accountability and follow-through
-
The ability to stay calm and manage competing priorities under pressure
-
A genuine commitment to service excellence, continuous improvement and positive workplace culture
Experience in healthcare, allied health, or a services-based national network will be highly regarded. Prior exposure to Defence, government, or regulated/compliance-heavy environments is an advantage.
