The Opportunity
We are seeking a culturally knowledgeable and values‑driven Cultural Lead to provide guidance, advice and support to employees, ensuring practice approaches are culturally safe, trauma‑informed and respectful. You will play a key role in strengthening Accordwest’s cultural capability, supporting culturally responsive service delivery, and contributing to the development of programs, policies and training that embed cultural safety across the organisation.
This role is ideal for someone deeply connected to culture, passionate about supporting First Nations employees, clients and communities, and committed to building cultural confidence and capability within teams.
In this influential role, you will:

Strengthen cultural capability across all programs
•
Provide cultural guidance, mentoring and support to staff
•
Build meaningful relationships with Elders, communities and Aboriginal organisations
•
Lead cultural safety initiatives, audits and continuous improvement
•
Support culturally safe service delivery for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients
•
Contribute to cultural governance, policy development and organisational strategy
•
Represent Accordwest at cultural events, forums and networks
•
Support progress against our Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP)
Essential Requirements
Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent, with a strong understanding of cultural protocols, community dynamics and cultural safety principles.
Demonstrated experience supporting culturally safe practice within community services, social services or related fields.
Strong knowledge of trauma‑informed, strengths‑based and culturally responsive approaches.
Ability to deliver cultural training, guidance and support to employees.
Strong communication, relationship‑building and stakeholder engagement skills.
Ability to work collaboratively with internal teams, community partners and Aboriginal community‑controlled organisations.
