The Opportunity
You'll have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact by supporting the safety and wellbeing of employees, contractors and volunteers who care for Victoria's iconic parks and public spaces.
Reporting to the Manager, Health and Safety, you will provide practical, frontline health and safety support across Parks Victoria. Acting as a trusted advisor to managers and staff, you'll deliver hands-on guidance, coaching and support to help teams meet their safety obligations and maintain safe, healthy and productive workplaces.
This is a varied and rewarding role where you'll partner closely with operational teams to implement safety systems, manage risks, investigate incidents and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide expert health and safety advice, coaching and support to managers and employees.
- Coordinate and facilitate workplace inspections, risk assessments and incident investigations.
- Support the implementation and continuous improvement of Parks Victoria's Health and Safety Management System.
- Develop and review safe work procedures and risk controls.
- Support local safety committees and employee engagement initiatives.
- Build safety capability across the organisation through education, guidance and practical support.
- Promote proactive risk management and continuous improvement in workplace safety practices.
About You
You are a collaborative and approachable safety professional who enjoys working directly with people to solve problems and improve safety outcomes. You combine strong technical knowledge with practical experience and have a passion for helping others work safely.
You'll bring:
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in Health & Safety (Certificate IV in health and safety desirable)
- Experience in a health and safety advisory role within complex operational environments.
- Strong knowledge of workplace health and safety legislation, systems and best practices.
- Experience conducting investigations, inspections and risk assessments.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- The ability to influence, coach and build strong working relationships at all levels.
- A practical, solutions-focused approach to safety and continuous improvement.
