Job Description
Be the first conversation that changes everything.
At Sage, we help small and medium-sized businesses thrive — and it all starts with a conversation. As a Business Development Representative, you’ll be that first connection. You’ll introduce new customers to Sage, spark interest, and open the door to smarter ways of working.
This is more than just outreach. It’s about building trust, understanding challenges, and creating meaningful engagement from day one.
Key Responsibilities
What you’ll be doing
You’ll be at the heart of our growth — generating new opportunities and building your own pipeline.
Connect with SMB owners and decision-makers through outbound outreach (calls, email, LinkedIn and beyond)
Introduce Sage and articulate how our solutions can support business success
Qualify opportunities using frameworks like BANT or SPIN
Handle objections with confidence and curiosity
Build relationships that lead to lasting customer value
Collaborate closely with sales teams to convert opportunities into revenue
Expect a high-energy environment where resilience matters — you’ll hear “no”, but you’ll turn it into learning, momentum, and ultimately, success.
What you’ll bring
Experience in a lead generation or outbound sales role
Working knowledge of BANT, SPIN, or similar sales methodologies
Confidence in handling objections and navigating customer conversations
A proactive mindset — you enjoy building pipeline and creating opportunities
Strong communication skills and a natural ability to build rapport
Why Sage?
Our product is software — but not as you know it. We combine decades of trusted expertise with modern innovation, including Sage AI, to make work simpler and more efficient. That’s why our customers stick with us — and why our people do too.
When you ask our sales teams why they stay, one word comes up again and again: culture.
Grow your career, your way
We invest in your success from day one:
Structured onboarding programme to set you up for success
5 paid days annually to give back through the Sage Foundation
5 paid days annually dedicated to learning and development
Ongoing coaching to help you sharpen your sales skills and grow your career
Important to note
This role is not eligible for visa sponsorship
Candidates must have current authorisation to work in Australia
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience)
Minimum 1 year’s experience in sales or business development
Exposure to APAC markets (e.g., Singapore, Malaysia) with an ability to adapt to diverse cultural and commercial environments
Demonstrated ability or strong interest in leveraging AI and modern sales technology to improve productivity
Experience working with Salesforce CRM is highly desirable
Ready to start the conversation?
If you’re motivated by growth, energised by connecting with people, and ready to build a career in sales — we’d love to hear from you.
