About the role
Reporting to the Senior Coordinator Community Wellbeing, you will provide strategic, operational and clinical governance leadership for Council's Maternal and Child Health Service.
Leading a team of dedicated professionals, you will be responsible for ensuring the delivery of safe, high-quality, evidence-based and responsive services for children and families across Boroondara.
As a member of the Community Wellbeing Leadership Team, you will work collaboratively across Council and with external partners to support integrated early years, child safety and community wellbeing outcomes.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading the strategic planning, delivery and continuous improvement of Maternal and Child Health services.
- Providing workforce leadership, capability development and succession planning for the MCH team.
- Driving clinical governance, quality improvement, risk management and evidence-based practice.
- Overseeing Universal and Enhanced Maternal and Child Health programs.
- Managing service performance, budgets, grants and funding requirements.
- Ensuring compliance with Victorian MCH frameworks, legislative requirements and professional standards.
- Leading implementation of child safety, family violence, safeguarding and information sharing requirements.
- Building strong partnerships across the health, early years and community sectors.
- Providing expert advice on emerging issues, service reform and strategic opportunities.
About you
You are a respected clinical leader with a strong understanding of Maternal and Child Health services and contemporary early years practice. You bring the ability to balance strategic thinking with operational leadership, while fostering a positive and high-performing team culture.
To be successful, you will have:
- Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse and Registered Midwife, with recognised qualifications in Maternal and Child Health Nursing.
- Significant leadership experience within a clinical, health or human services environment.
- Comprehensive knowledge of the Victorian Universal and Enhanced Maternal and Child Health Service Framework.
- Experience in clinical governance, quality improvement, risk management and service innovation.
- Strong understanding of child safety, family violence, MARAM and related safeguarding requirements.
- Demonstrated success in workforce planning, recruitment, performance management and organisational change.
- Experience managing budgets, funding programs, performance reporting and service delivery outcomes.
- Exceptional communication, stakeholder engagement and influencing skills.
- A commitment to delivering equitable, family-centred services that improve outcomes for children and families.

Employment Requirements
The successful applicant will be required to hold:
- Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse and Registered Midwife.
- Recognised Maternal and Child Health Nursing qualifications.
- Current Driver Licence.
- Current National Police Check.
- Current Employee Working with Children Check (or ability to obtain one).
