THE POSITION:
Kick-start your engineering career with Fairfield City Council as a Graduate Traffic & Transport. This full-time fixed term opportunity (up to two years) will provide hands-on experience across traffic engineering, transport planning, road safety, project management and stakeholder engagement.
Reporting to the Traffic & Transport Coordinator, you will assist with traffic and transport investigations, planning studies, technical reporting, project management activities, site inspections and community consultation. Working alongside experienced professionals, you will gain valuable practical experience while contributing to projects that improve transport outcomes for the community.
SELECTION CRITERIA:
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Full Australian working rights for the duration of the fixed-term contract.
- A Degree in Civil Engineering (or be in the final year of study) suitable for membership of Engineers Australia.
- Working knowledge of engineering standards, guidelines and practices such as TfNSW, Austroads and Australian Standards.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to research, analyse information and prepare technical reports.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Exposure to, or willingness to learn, engineering software packages.
- Ability to organise work, manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
- An understanding of engineering standards, guidelines and practices.
- Current Class C NSW Driver Licence.
SALARY & EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS:
- Full-time position, working 35 hours per week
- Fixed term contract, up to two (2) years
- This position is a Grade 4, with a salary range starting from $80,758 p.a. with progression to $86,962 p.a. on demonstrated competencies plus 12% superannuation
