About the Role
We are currently seeking a compassionate and reliable Support Worker with basic Auslan skills to support NDIS participants in the Toowoomba/Darling Downs area. This role involves providing person-centred support in the home and community, with a strong focus on effective communication and independence.
This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who understands Deaf culture and is able to communicate with basic Australian Sign Language (Auslan).
Key Responsibilities
- Provide one-on-one support in line with NDIS care plans
- Communicate clearly and confidently using Auslan
- Assist with daily living tasks, meal preparation and driving clients
- Support community access, appointments, and social activities
- Complete shift notes at the end of every shift
- Promote choice, dignity, and independence
Availability
· 2-15 hours per week with future opportunities to work more hours
· Ideally available most weekdays and some weekends (Saturday 10:00am-1:00pm and Sunday 10:00am-12:00pm)
Essential Requirements
- Basic ability to communicate with clients using Auslan (essential) or committed to learning Auslan
- Current First Aid & CPR (or willingness to obtain)
- NDIS Worker Screening Check (or willingness to obtain)
- Blue Card (Working with Children Check)
- Valid Driver’s Licence and use of a reliable vehicle with comprehensive insurance
- Full Australian working rights
Desirable
- Experience supporting the Deaf or hard-of-hearing
- Understanding of Deaf culture
- Experience working with NDIS participants
- Certificate III or IV in Individual Support (Disability) or equivalent

Pay: From $35.00 per hour
