Blue Mountains District ANZAC Memorial Hospital is seeking a passionate and dedicated Peer Support Worker to join our Mental Health team. This is a unique opportunity to use your own lived experience of Mental Health challenges and recovery to support consumers on their recovery journey.
As a Peer Support Worker, you will play a vital role in fostering hope, empowerment and recovery-oriented practice by providing support, advocacy and education from a lived experience perspective. Working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, you will help ensure services remain person-centred, strengths-based, and recovery focused.
This role provides individual and group-based peer support to consumers accessing Mental Health services. Drawing on personal lived experience of mental health challenges, recovery and service use, the successful candidate will support consumers to build confidence, develop self-management strategies, enhance wellbeing, and achieve their recovery goals.
The role promotes the value of lived experience within the healthcare setting and contributes to the development of recovery-oriented services.
This role will support consumers across four main areas:

Developing good physical and mental health.

Access to housing, employment and education.

Re-discovering a sense of purpose and personal identity.

Forming active connections to the community of the consumers' choice.
