We're looking for a commercially minded Financial Controller to lead our Finance function and play a key role in driving the continued growth and success of Collective Wellness Group and Anytime Fitness Australia. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, you'll provide financial leadership, commercial insight and strategic support across the business while leading a high-performing Finance team. This is an opportunity to influence key decisions, strengthen business performance and help shape the future of Australia's largest fitness franchise network.
As Financial Controller, you will lead the day-to-day financial operations of the business, ensuring the delivery of accurate reporting, effective financial controls, strong cashflow management and compliance with all statutory obligations.
You will oversee financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, payroll governance, audit management and financial operations while partnering closely with leaders across the business to support informed decision-making and sustainable growth.
Key Responsibilities:

Lead the financial reporting function across all Collective Wellness Group entities
- Prepare monthly management reports, Board packs and financial commentary
- Oversee month-end and year-end close processes
- Manage budgeting, forecasting and reforecasting activities across the business
- Deliver financial analysis and commercial insights to support strategic decision-making
- Own cashflow forecasting and working capital management
- Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable and general ledger functions
- Lead the annual audit process and coordinate statutory reporting requirements
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards, taxation obligations and financial regulations
- Drive continuous improvement across financial systems, controls and processes
- Partner with business leaders to identify opportunities for growth, efficiency and profitability
- Lead, coach and develop a high-performing Finance team
- You are a commercially astute finance leader who combines strong technical expertise with exceptional business partnering capability.
- You enjoy working in a fast-paced environment, have a natural curiosity for understanding how a business operates, and are passionate about helping leaders make better decisions through data, analysis, and insight.
- You bring a proactive mindset, strong attention to detail, and the ability to balance strategic thinking with operational execution.
- CPA or CA qualification
- Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline
- 5+ years of progressive experience in finance, accounting or financial control roles
- Background as an auditor/in auditing (desirable)
- Demonstrated experience leading financial reporting, budgeting and forecasting processes
- Strong knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards (AASB), taxation requirements and financial compliance obligations
- Experience managing audits, statutory reporting and regulatory compliance
- Strong commercial acumen and financial modelling capability
- Experience leading accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll and accounting functions
- Advanced Excel and financial systems capability
- Experience within franchise, retail, multi-site or service-based environments is highly regarded
- Commercially minded with the ability to connect financial performance to business outcomes
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capability
- Trusted advisor who can influence stakeholders at all levels
- High attention to detail with a commitment to financial integrity and governance
- Collaborative leader who develops people and builds high-performing teams
