BC People is recruiting on behalf of a well-established and growing civil construction and asphalt business based in Melbourne's northern suburbs.
We are seeking a Junior Laboratory Technician to join a professional technical team in Somerton. This role is ideal for someone with previous laboratory experience who is looking to further develop their career in materials testing, quality assurance, and civil infrastructure.
You'll receive ongoing training and support while working alongside experienced laboratory professionals on projects that help build and maintain Victoria's road network.
About the Role
Reporting to the Laboratory Manager, you will assist with the testing and quality control of asphalt, aggregates, bitumen, and other construction materials used in major infrastructure projects.
This is a hands-on role combining laboratory work, sample preparation, testing, data recording, and occasional field sampling.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct laboratory testing on asphalt, aggregates, bitumen, and related materials.
Prepare and process samples for testing.
Accurately record and report test results.
Follow laboratory procedures, testing methods, and quality standards.
Assist with quality assurance and compliance activities.
Maintain laboratory equipment and testing facilities.
Support field sampling and site testing when required.
Maintain a clean, organised, and safe work environment.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
Essential Requirements
Previous laboratory experience is essential.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Good computer and data entry skills.
Ability to follow procedures and work methodically.
Strong communication and organisational skills.
Current driver's licence.
Full Australian working rights.
Highly Regarded
Experience in construction materials testing, asphalt, concrete, quarry products, manufacturingquality control, or similar environments.
White Card.
Certificate IV in Laboratory Techniques or similar qualification.
Knowledge of quality systems and testing procedures.
