POSITION OVERVIEW
We are seeking an experienced Payroll Manager to join the Navarra team in a full-time permanent role based at our Head Office in Rozelle, reporting directly to the Head of Finance. Working hours are 9 am - 5 PM, from Navarra head office in Rozelle, onsite parking available.
In this role, you will be responsible for processing weekly payroll for approximately 70 full-time staff, along with 100–300 casual employees during peak periods.
A key focus of the position will be driving payroll system improvements. You will review current processes and system configurations, identify areas for improvement, and provide recommendations to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and compliance.
You will also play an important role in ensuring managers and staff remain accountable for roster management and timely timesheet approvals.
The ideal candidate will have previously experience in the hospitality industry, and have an understanding of the restraint award.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Process accurate and timely weekly payroll for approximately 70 permanent employees and 100–300 casual employees during peak periods.
- Ensure all payroll activities are completed in accordance with relevant Awards, Fair Work legislation, taxation requirements and company policies.
- Follow up Venue Managers each week to ensure timesheets and rosters are completed and approved within required deadlines.
- Work collaboratively with Venue Managers to improve payroll accuracy, roster compliance and timekeeping practices.
- Partner with the HR Manager to improve payroll systems, processes and workflows, ensuring a seamless employee experience.
- Identify opportunities to enhance and optimise Employment Hero, making recommendations to improve automation, reporting and system efficiency.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to streamline payroll operations and reduce manual processes.
- Partner with HR to identify and address non-compliance with business processes, including roster management, attendance and payroll procedures.
- Maintain accurate employee payroll records and respond to payroll-related enquiries in a professional and timely manner.
- Reconcile payroll reports and ensure the integrity and accuracy of payroll data.
- Assist with payroll audits, year-end reporting, Single Touch Payroll (STP) requirements and statutory reporting obligations.
- Prepare monthly payroll reporting, including leave liability, wages analysis, overtime, labour costs and other key workforce metrics.
- Partner with the Chief Financial Officer and HR Manager to provide payroll insights and reporting that support informed business decisions.
- Build strong working relationships across Finance, HR and Operations to ensure payroll supports the wider business objectives.
KEY SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
Expert-level experience using Employment Hero- A minimum of 5 years’ experience working with Employment Hero payroll systems
- Strong payroll processing and systems improvement experience
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
- The ability to work collaboratively with managers and stakeholders
