About Bluestone
Bluestone Mines Tasmania Joint Venture Pty Ltd, is Australia’s largest Tin producer. Bluestone is a well-established, high yield tin producer with a strong resource base supporting a mine life in excess of 10 years. The Renison mine is located on Tasmania’s beautiful West Coast between the towns of Zeehan and Rosebery.

Renison is currently experiencing an exciting phase of development, characterised by a robust "Life of Mine Plan" and an ongoing commitment to capital reinvestment. This strategic approach is designed to enhance health, safety, environmental sustainability, and operational efficiency. About the role
As a participant of the 12-week Bluestone Mines Tasmania Joint Venture Vacation Student Program you will gain exposure to surface operations and will work in teams that will assist your continual learning and growth within a supportive and mentored environment. The program intends to employ students studying Metallurgy, Chemical Engineering or Process Control Engineering. This experience is offered on residential and or drive in, drive out basis.
Core responsibilities
- Support and actively participate as a member of your respective team
- Develop working knowledge of complex mineral processing operations
- Contribute to projects and daily duties and tasks
- Develop, implement and manage projects as required
- Follow safety protocols and standards while working collaboratively to ensure role responsibilities and safety requirements are clearly communicated and fulfilled.
- Contribute to a cohesive working environment.
About you
You will be a dedicated student in your 3rd or 4th year of a relevant mineral processing tertiary qualification in Chemical Engineering, Metallurgy or Process Control Engineering. You will be passionate to learn about the mining industry and apply your classroom knowledge to gain invaluable hands-on experience.
You will need to have a C Class driver’s licence and be comfortable in a team environment, whilst demonstrating strong communication and organisational skills enabling you to maintain a safe and efficient working environment.
Bluestone Mines Tasmania offers free accommodation inclusive of meals whilst on shift. Interstate candidates are encouraged to apply and will be provided flights at commencement and completion of vacation period along with accommodation and meals for the duration.
