About Us
Figtree Anglican Church is located in the heavenly Illawarra on the NSW South Coast, an hour’s drive south of Sydney. With over 600 people gathering on a Sunday, we are biblical, reformed, evangelical, and Kingdom-oriented. We pursue excellence in all God gives.
His mission, and ours, is “Jesus for Everyone. Forever.” (John 3:16; Phil. 2:5-11). We envision “growing faithful and fruitful disciples of Jesus in Figtree and further afield, to the glory of God” (Matt. 28:18-20; Col. 1:28; 2:6-7). We are committed to working in close partnership with our Parish Council to ensure strong alignment between governance and ministry activity. To support this, we have established Ministry Area Teams that foster close strategic and operational partnership between the Ministry Team and Parish Council members. We think of this as two brain hemispheres working together, connected by vital pathways that enable communication, coordination, and shared purpose.
About the Role
We are asking God for an Assistant or Senior Assistant Minister to join our Pastoral Team within our broader Ministry Team. As we send one of our ministers to become a rector in Sydney with both gladness and sadness, and as we respond to continued numerical growth, we are restructuring our team. This is a new, full-time role reporting to the Senior Minister. Senior applicants will have scope to help shape both the role and the restructuring.
Preaching within our preaching team, which includes both men and women under the oversight of the Senior Minister, together with prayer and pastoral care, will be prerequisites. Fit and chemistry with the team will carry significant weight, alongside the ministry gifts God has forged in you through biblical conviction and godly character.
About You
You have demonstrated experience in a role with oversight across multiple ministry areas, including the development of leaders, teams, and ministry systems.
You are a capable team builder with experience discovering, discipling, and deploying vocational and volunteer leaders who serve the Lord by encouraging and equipping others.
You will be ordained, or willing to be ordained, in the Anglican Church and able to be licensed in the Anglican Diocese of Sydney.
You will have theological education to at least degree level, with openness to further theological education viewed favourably.
