Marine Fitout WA is looking for a motivated Trades Assistant / Skilled Labourer to join our growing team.
Based in Henderson, we work on the interior fitout, refurbishment and modification of luxury, commercial and specialist vessels. Our work includes marine cabinetry and joinery, interior fitouts, timber and laminate work, composite panels, marine decking and a wide variety of custom fabrication and installation work.
No two projects are the same. You could be working in our workshop one day and onboard a vessel the next.
About the Role
You will work alongside experienced tradespeople and be involved in a variety of hands-on work, including:
· Assisting with the manufacture and installation of marine interiors
· Cutting, fitting and installing timber, laminates and composite materials
· Assisting with cabinetry, panelling and interior fitouts
· General workshop and onboard vessel work
· Marine decking fabrication and installation
· Using hand and power tools
· Measuring, cutting and fitting materials
· Helping solve practical problems as part of a team
· Learning specialised marine construction and fitout techniques
We’re Looking For Someone Who
· Has good practical skills and experience using hand and power tools
· Has worked in a trade, construction, manufacturing, fitout, fabrication or similar hands-on environment
· Is willing to learn and take direction
· Has initiative and can see what needs doing without having to be constantly told
· Takes pride in doing quality work
· Has a good eye for detail
· Is reliable, punctual and motivated
· Can work well as part of a small team
· Is physically capable of hands-on work
· Has a current driver’s licence
· Has permanent Australian working rights
A trade qualification is not essential.
We are more interested in finding someone with the right attitude, practical ability and willingness to learn. If you’ve got good basic skills and want to develop into a specialised marine tradesperson, we’d like to hear from you.
Experience in any of the following would be an advantage, but is not essential:
· Cabinetmaking or joinery
· Carpentry
· Shopfitting
· Construction
· Boatbuilding or marine work
· Fibreglass or composite work
· Manufacturing or fabrication
· Fitout and installation work
