About the department
The Department of Dietetics and Nutrition is responsible for providing a comprehensive dietetic service to patients of the Townsville University Hospital and the remaining Townsville Hospital and Health Service including Palm Island, North Ward renal satellite unit and surrounding areas of North Queensland (via outreach renal services). An outreach service is also supplied to Charters Towers including The Charters Towers Hospital, Eventide Nursing Home and Charters Towers Rehabilitation Unit.
The department consists of 22.5 full-time equivalent (FTE) dietitians as outlined under the Organisational structure and is supported by 2.5 FTE nutrition assistants. There is also professional leadership across the (HHS) to all dietetic services to support service delivery, service development and appropriate standards of professional care.
The Nutrition and Dietetics Department in the future may provide services across a seven day period. The successful candidate to this position may be required in the future to participate in seven day rostering systems.
About the opportunity
To assist in the provision of optimal nutritional care for patients at the Townsville University Hospital by supporting dietetic staff within the Department of Nutrition and Dietetics.
Contribute to patient care by providing administrative and clinical assistance to allied health professionals in their day-to-day clinical duties. Works under the supervision and direction of the Allied Health Professional and undertakes only those clinical tasks delegated to them.
Please note: This is a permanent part-time role, 53.2 hours per fortnight.
Role requirements
A Certificate IV - Allied Health Assistant or equivalent is required for this position. Evidence of any qualifications must be provided to the appropriate supervisor/manager, prior to the commencement of duties.
This is a Vaccine Preventable Disease (VPD) risk role. Hepatitis B, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis and Tuberculosis.
