At Compare Club, we’re passionate about helping everyday Australians get a better deal on their life insurance. As Australia’s largest life insurance broking and comparison platform, we handle over $9 Billion in life insurance benefits across our qualified team of advisers and brokers.
We are fast-paced, performance-oriented, and deeply committed to setting our team up for long-term career growth.
About the Role:
As our “Academy Team Leader” you will own the end-to-end 6-month journey for all new entrant life brokers. You won't just facilitate training—you will act as their direct people manager, holding total accountability for taking fresh talent from day-one induction to fully competent, target-carrying brokers performing at a tenured (12+ month) standard before transitioning them into permanent operational teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Direct People Management (0–6 Months): Act as the immediate people leader for new hires, conducting regular 1:1s, 30/60/90-day milestone assessments, pastoral care, and probation reviews.
- Performance & Target Ramping: Drive daily sales activity and performance tracking to ensure new brokers reach standard tenured sales targets by month 6.
- Coaching & Underperformance Management: Identify capability gaps early, providing tailored coaching or implementing formal performance management plans where required.
- Training Leadership & Delivery: Oversee the continuous improvement and facilitation of sales skills, product knowledge, systems, and compliance training programs.
- Compliance & Quality Standards: Ensure all content and team activity strictly aligns with ASIC requirements, the Life Insurance Code of Practice, and internal Tier 2/General Advice guidelines.
- Stakeholder Handover: Manage the seamless graduation of fully competent brokers into operational business units, handing over detailed performance tracking to receiving Team Leaders.
What We Are Looking For:
- Retail Life Insurance Experience: Mandatory deep industry knowledge of retail life insurance products, sales processes, and underwriting principles.
- Proven Leadership & Coaching: Demonstrated success leading, coaching, and ramping new starters to achieve strict sales KPIs—ideally within a phone-based or retail environment.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with Australian financial services training standards (ASIC RG146/Tier 2 and the Life Insurance Code of Practice).
- Data-Driven Approach: Comfortable using training metrics, conversion data, and productivity KPIs to drive operational decisions.
- Qualifications (Desirable): Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE), Tier 2/RG146 compliance, or tertiary qualifications in Business, HR, or Education.
Why You’ll Love Working With Us:
- Celebrate Success: From team lunches and regular party celebrations, we make sure hard work gets recognised and rewarded.
- Fuel Your Day: Stay energised with a fully stocked snack bar, premium coffee, and plenty of treats in the office.
- Perks & Discounts: Enjoy exclusive employee discounts across our partner networks and household expense categories—so you save on life outside of work, too.
- Impactful Leadership: Lead a high-visibility program that directly shapes Compare Club’s growth, culture, and future top performers.
