What you'll be doing
The Child and Youth Mental Health Service (CYMHS) hospital In Reach and Liaison (CHIL) Service is a dedicated, multidisciplinary service providing specialist consultation and liaison for children and young people (0-1 experiencing mental health problems (including co-morbid substance use) and their parents/caregivers, admitted to Royal North Shore or Hornsby Hospital paediatric wards, medical wards, the Psychiatric Emergency Care Centres (PECC), and paediatric outpatients clinics. The service will provide assessment, in-reach consultation-liaison, short-term evidence-based interventions, collaborative care planning with children, young people, their parents/caregivers, and other systems of support as appropriate. The service will collaborate with CYMHS, drug and alcohol, and other services to facilitate early intervention, warm handover and engagement for ongoing community treatment as needed. The service will also provide advice and professional development for medical, nursing, and allied health hospital staff to assist in building capacity in caring for children and young people experiencing mental health and co-morbid substance use difficulties.
