About the role
The City of Salisbury is seeking a motivated and detail-focused Accounting Support Officer to join the Finance team within Corporate Development.
Reporting to the Team Leader Management Accounting, you will provide accounting and administrative support across a range of budgeting, reporting and financial planning activities. Working closely with stakeholders across the organisation, you will play a key role in supporting the Annual Business Plan, quarterly budget reviews and financial business partnering.
Your key responsibilities will include

Support the preparation of annual budgets and quarterly budget reviews.

Coordinate and support the Annual Business Plan process.

Partner with stakeholders to provide financial support and advice.

Assist with monthly reporting, budgeting and variance analysis.

Prepare journals, reconciliations and other accounting transactions.

Support the preparation of financial statements and grant acquittals.

Provide administrative support to the Finance team.

Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and special projects.
About you

You take pride in delivering accurate, timely work and are keen to further develop your accounting knowledge and experience.
You will also have

Currently studying Accounting, Commerce or a related discipline and nearing completion of your qualification, or relevant bookkeeping or accounting experience.

Strong attention to detail and numerical accuracy.

Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Strong data entry, organisational and administrative skills.

A flexible and proactive approach to work.

Experience using Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook.

Experience using financial systems (desirable).

Local government experience (desirable).
