SGS is seeking a full time Chemist to join the team in Alexandria, NSW

Perform site sampling, laboratory analysis, and fieldwork for clients across various locations, ensuring accurate and timely results.

Deliver independent test results that comply with relevant standards, regulatory requirements, and client specifications.

Support clients in determining compliance with environmental and industrial regulations through reliable testing services.

Contribute to the development and expansion of the Industrial & Environment (I&E) business’s chemistry capabilities.

Manage and execute industrial projects, ensuring quality outcomes and client satisfaction.

Assist in maintaining a profitable core business focused on air, gas, and industrial chemistry services.

Using ICPMS/GCMS/LCMS to conduct analysis of soil, water, air, gas and other samples as required.

Build and maintain good working relationships with all clients keeping the focus on customer satisfaction and growing the business.

Review and authorisation of test results.

Assist in method development and validation activities.

Perform industrial and environmental chemistry work as required.

Maintain documented methods to ensure all procedures are up to date and comply with international best practice.

Maintain equipment as required ensuring it is correctly serviced, repaired and properly calibrated with appropriate documentation.

Maintain NATA ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation requirements for all key testing services.

Perform method audits.

Maintain an understanding of the market, competition and client requirements in Australia.

At all times, comply with SGS Code of Integrity and Professional Conduct.
Qualifications

Bachelor of Science &/or Bachelor of Engineering (Chemical)

Several years of industry experience

Background in analytical techniques use in chemical testing, industrial analysis, environmental analysis and occupational hygiene

In depth knowledge both theoretical and practical aspects of chemistry and chemical analysis

Thorough understanding of advanced analytical instrumentation such as ICPMS/GCMS/LCMS equipment and the legislation/standards applicable to the work performed.

Technical and professional knowledge, especially air procedures and regulatory requirements
