Position Summary
The Duty Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the venue, ensuring exceptional customer service, efficient staff management, and smooth restaurant and bar operations. This role requires a hands-on leader who can supervise staff, maintain compliance with hospitality regulations, resolve customer concerns, and ensure the venue consistently delivers an outstanding guest experience.
Key ResponsibilitiesOperations Management
- Oversee the daily operations of the restaurant and bar.
- Ensure the venue is presented to a high standard before, during, and after service.
- Manage opening and closing procedures, including venue security.
- Ensure all areas are clean, organised, and fully stocked.
- Monitor service standards and maintain a welcoming atmosphere.
Staff Leadership
- Lead, supervise, and motivate front-of-house staff.
- Allocate duties and manage staff during each shift.
- Conduct staff training, coaching, and performance reviews.
- Assist with recruitment, onboarding, and induction of new employees.
- Manage staff breaks and ensure adequate staffing levels throughout service.
- Foster a positive and professional team culture.
Customer Service
- Deliver exceptional customer service and lead by example.
- Handle customer complaints professionally and resolve issues promptly.
- Build strong relationships with regular customers.
- Monitor customer satisfaction and encourage positive guest experiences.
Financial & Administrative Duties
- Manage daily cash handling, tills, banking, and end-of-day reconciliation.
- Monitor labour costs and control staffing within budget.
- Assist with stock ordering, stocktakes, and inventory control.
- Minimise waste and control operational expenses.
- Prepare daily shift reports and communicate operational updates to management.
Food & Beverage Service
- Support staff during busy service periods.
- Ensure food and beverages meet quality and presentation standards.
- Monitor beverage quality, including cocktails, beer, wine, and coffee service.
- Ensure compliance with food safety procedures.
Compliance & Safety
- Ensure compliance with all liquor licensing laws and Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) requirements.
- Maintain food safety and hygiene standards.
- Ensure compliance with Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) policies.
- Manage incident reporting and workplace hazards.
- Ensure emergency procedures are understood and followed by staff.
Skills & Qualifications
- Minimum 2–3 years' experience in a hospitality management or supervisory role.
- Current Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) certificate (essential).
- Approved Manager's Card (required where applicable).
- Strong leadership and people management skills.
- Excellent communication and conflict resolution abilities.
- Experience with POS systems and cash handling.
- Strong organisational and time-management skills.
- Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions under pressure.
- Proficiency in rostering, stock control, and labour management.

Pay: $57,826.25 – $65,000.00 per year
