About the role
This is a full-time management position for a practical and commercially minded hospitality professional. You will organise and control the venue, guide front and back-of-house employees, manage costs and stock, and work closely with the directors to improve operational performance.
Key responsibilities
- Plan, organise and control daily cafe and restaurant operations to deliver efficient service and a consistently positive guest experience.
- Select, roster, train, supervise and develop front and back-of-house employees, including performance feedback and workplace induction.
- Plan menus and service initiatives in consultation with chefs and directors, considering customer demand, quality, pricing and operational requirements.
- Manage labour allocation, purchasing, stock levels and supplier relationships in line with approved budgets.
- Maintain accurate records of stock, costs, sales and financial transactions, and report on key operational performance indicators.
- Monitor labour, food and operating costs and implement practical measures to improve productivity, profitability and waste control.
- Maintain high standards of food and beverage presentation, dining-area appearance, cleanliness and customer service.
- Ensure compliance with food safety, responsible service of alcohol, work health and safety and other applicable legal and company requirements.
- Plan and coordinate private functions, group bookings and special events, including menus, staffing, suppliers and client requirements.
- Respond to customer feedback and complaints promptly and use the findings to improve service delivery.
About you
- A relevant AQF Diploma or higher qualification and relevant hospitality management experience, or at least three years of relevant experience where experience is relied on instead of a formal qualification.
- Demonstrated experience managing the operations of a busy cafe, restaurant or comparable dining venue.
- Strong staff leadership, rostering, training and performance-management capability.
- Practical knowledge of stock control, purchasing, labour costs, food costs, budgets and operational reporting.
- Sound knowledge of food safety, responsible service of alcohol and work health and safety requirements.
- Excellent customer service, communication, organisation and problem-solving skills.
- The ability to work under pressure, make sound decisions and remain involved in daily operations without losing management oversight.
- Current RSA and Responsible Person approval, or the ability to obtain the approvals required for the role.
- Strong coffee knowledge and practical barista experience, including espresso preparation, milk texturing and latte art.
- Basic wine knowledge, including familiarity with common wine varieties and appropriate service.

Pay: $80,000.00 – $90,000.00 per year
