Our theatre complex offers state of the art operating facilities, including a newly commissioned ophthalmic theatre. Job Description
We are seeking experienced PACU Nurses to join the perioperative team at Baringa Private Hospital. In this role, you will provide specialised clinical monitoring and immediate stabilisation for patients recovering from anaesthesia, ensuring a safe and supported transition from the operating theatre.
As a member of our clinical team, you will plan, deliver and evaluate patient care with the support and guidance of the Nurse Unit Manager, Clinical Nurse and Shift Leaders, ensuring a high standard of quality service is provided to our patients.
Key responsibilities include:

Providing immediate post-anaesthetic monitoring and management, including airway management, haemodynamic assessment, and pain and nausea control.

Assessing patients against discharge criteria and facilitating safe transitions to ward or day surgery environments.

Responding promptly to unexpected post-operative outcomes and escalating appropriately.

Collaborating with anaesthetists, surgeons and the perioperative nursing team to ensure continuity and safety of care.

Maintaining accurate clinical documentation in line with ACORN standards and Ramsay Health Care policy.
About You
You are a clinically confident nurse with dedicated PACU or acute perioperative experience and a strong commitment to patient safety during the immediate post-operative phase. You will also demonstrate:

Current registration with AHPRA as a Registered Nurse (essential).

Minimum 1–2 years' recent experience in a PACU, recovery or acute surgical environment (essential).

Sound clinical assessment and critical thinking skills, including competence in airway management.

Demonstrated ability to assess, plan, coordinate and evaluate patient care needs in the perioperative setting.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a high standard of customer-focused service.

Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, independently and as part of a team.

Flexibility to work a rotating 7-day roster, including evenings and weekends.

Postgraduate qualifications in perioperative nursing will be highly regarded.
