Overnight Disability Support Worker
Supported Independent Living & Respite | Salisbury East & Parafield Gardens
Regular ongoing shifts | 3+ nights per week | Active & Passive Overnight Support
We are seeking a warm, positive and engaging Disability Support Worker to join our team, providing regular overnight support across two Supported Independent Living (SIL) homes in Salisbury East and our Respite service in Parafield Gardens.
Participants in these properties have requested female support worker who speak fluent English and have an Australian/ European cultural background with strong communication skills, is easy going and happy with a jovial personality.
This is an ongoing position offering 3 or more regular overnight shifts per week. Shifts include a combination of active and passive overnight support, depending on the needs of the participants.
We are particularly looking for someone who:
- Is naturally warm, friendly and positive
- Enjoys laughing, chatting and joining in with participants
- Is comfortable building genuine, professional relationships
- Is patient and able to teach and reinforce appropriate behaviours and boundaries
- Can calmly manage interpersonal issues within a shared home
- Understands that positive behaviour support is about teaching, guiding and supporting rather than simply directing
- Is comfortable with appropriate participant-initiated physical contact, such as holding hands, while maintaining professional boundaries
- Is reliable and committed to regular ongoing overnight shifts
- Can work independently and confidently overnight
- Is willing and able to work across Salisbury East and Parafield Gardens
About the Role
This is much more than simply being present overnight.
Our participants need a support worker who is happy to get involved in everyday life, build genuine rapport and provide active support that encourages independence, positive relationships and a happy, harmonious home.
Duties may include:
- Providing active and passive overnight support
- Assisting participants with daily living activities
- Personal care and hygiene support
- Meal preparation and assistance with meals
- Shopping and community access
- Supporting household routines and activities
- Encouraging independence and development of everyday living skills
- Supporting participants to understand and practice appropriate social behaviors and boundaries
- Using positive strategies to help maintain harmony within shared living environments
- Providing reassurance and emotional support when required
- Completing required documentation and progress notes on time
- Following individual support plans, behavior support strategies and organisational procedures
Essential Requirements
Applicants must have:
- Full Australian driver's licence
- Relevant NDIS Worker Screening Clearance
- Working with Children Check
- Current First Aid and CPR
- Appropriate disability/support qualifications or relevant experience
- Ability to provide personal care
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to follow support and behaviour support plans
- Availability to work a minimum of 3 overnight shifts per week
- Ability to work both active and passive overnight shifts
