Playpro Australia is a WALGA Preferred Supplier delivering playground installation, landscaping and open space construction for childcare operators, local government and commercial clients across Perth and WA. We're growing, our pipeline is strong, and we need a Leading Hand who can take a set of plans and run with them.
The role
Reporting to our Construction Manager, you'll take ownership of your projects from site establishment through to handover — primarily across our Childcare division, with regular work supporting our Parks & Playgrounds division.
Day to day you'll be:
- Running your project and your crew on site — setting the pace, the standard and the plan for the day.
- Reading and interpreting landscape plans, setting out levels and delivering to spec.
- Hands-on across the full scope: hardscapes and softscapes, blockwork and limestone, concrete works, paving, timber/nature play elements, irrigation installation, soil prep, planting and turf.
- Operating machinery (skid steer, excavator, compaction equipment) safely and efficiently.
- Coordinating materials, deliveries and subcontractors with the Construction Manager.
- Leading toolbox talks and keeping your site safe, tidy and compliant — especially on live childcare sites where the bar is highest.
- Mentoring labourers and apprentices, and building the next generation of the crew.
What you'll bring
Must haves:
- Solid, proven experience in landscape construction across both hardscape and softscape.
- Strong practical knowledge of irrigation, blockwork, concrete and machine operation.
- Experience leading a small crew and running a site day-to-day.
- Ability to read landscape and construction plans and work to levels.
- White Card and a current manual driver's licence.
- Pride in your finishing — you stand back at the end of the day and it's right.
Great to have (not essential):
- Cert III in Landscape Construction or Horticulture
- Machine tickets (skid steer / excavator)
- MR/HR truck licence
- Playground, childcare or nature play construction experience
