We are looking for a reliable, confident casual parking attendant / security guard to help manage parking and maintain order at our faith centre every Friday.
Our centre experiences serious parking pressure each Friday, so we need someone who can take ownership of the parking area, direct vehicles clearly, ensure everyone parks in the correct allocated spaces, and help make sure the area runs smoothly.
About the role
Your main responsibility will be to manage vehicle flow, prevent overflow parking in the wrong areas, and maintain order around the parking area. If the main parking area becomes full, you will need to redirect drivers to suitable surrounding areas within the nearby industrial complex.
You will also play a general security-style role by keeping an eye on the area, making sure people are following instructions, preventing unsafe or unauthorised behaviour, and helping ensure the environment remains calm, respectful, organised, and compliant.
This role is important because we want to respect our neighbours, avoid people parking on private property, keep the area safe, and make sure everything runs smoothly during the busy Friday period.
Key responsibilities
- Direct cars into the correct parking areas
- Prevent people from parking in unauthorised or neighbouring private areas
- Redirect overflow parking to suitable nearby locations
- Maintain order and ensure drivers follow instructions
- Monitor the parking capacity and act quickly when spaces fill up
- Work with volunteers during the busy arrival period
- Continue managing the area independently once the main rush settles
Who we are looking for
We need someone who is:
- Confident and able to give clear instructions
- Vigilant and aware of what is happening around them
- Respectful but firm when dealing with drivers
- Able to stay calm under pressure
- Familiar with basic road rules and safe parking practices
- Comfortable managing a busy parking environment
- Reliable and available every Friday from 12:30-2:30PM
You may have volunteer support during the first busy period, usually around the first 45 minutes. After that, you may be responsible for managing the area on your own for the remainder of the shift.
This role would suit someone who is confident, responsible, and able to take control of the area to ensure everyone parks correctly and respectfully.
