About the Role
Marble Care is currently seeking compassionate, reliable, and experienced Mental Health Support Workers to join our team supporting a participant transitioning into one of our Supported Independent Living (SIL) homes in Preston.
This role is focused on building a strong, positive, and therapeutic relationship with the participant while providing person-centred support both within the home and the community. We are seeking support workers who understand the importance of consistency, professionalism, active listening, and empowering participants to build independence over time.
Client Profile
This participant is a 56-year-old gentleman living with both physical and psychosocial disabilities, including chronic pain, depression, anxiety, reduced mobility, and fluctuating emotional wellbeing.
He values support workers who are:
- Excellent listeners who understand and follow agreed routines and preferences;
- Respectful, professional, and mindful that they are working within his home environment;
- Calm, patient, and emotionally intelligent;
- Reliable and consistent in their approach;
- Strong communicators with a good command of the English language;
- Able to work collaboratively with him rather than directing or controlling him;
- Open to feedback and committed to continually improving their practice.
The participant is highly motivated to increase his independence and achieve his goals. He is seeking support workers who can encourage and empower him to build skills, engage in meaningful activities, and promote choice and control in all aspects of his life.
Support Schedule
Monday to Sunday
10:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Please note that a small, consistent team of support workers will be established to promote continuity of care and develop a positive working relationship with the participant.
Key Responsibilities
You will play a vital role in supporting the participant to live independently and achieve his goals. Responsibilities include:
- Providing person-centred support in accordance with the participant's goals and preferences;
- Supporting with personal care tasks, including showering, dressing, grooming, and hygiene activities where required;
- Assisting with meal planning, meal preparation, and promoting healthy lifestyle choices;
- Supporting the implementation of pain management and joint protection strategies recommended by allied health professionals;
- Encouraging and assisting the participant to develop daily living skills and routines;
- Supporting community access, including attending appointments, shopping, recreational activities, and social outings;
- Assisting with light household tasks, including cleaning, changing bed linen, and maintaining a safe and comfortable living environment;
- Providing emotional support and promoting positive coping and conflict resolution strategies;
- Encouraging independence through prompting, supervision, and skill-building rather than completing tasks on behalf of the participant wherever appropriate;
- Maintaining accurate progress notes and documentation in line with organisational requirements;
- Communicating effectively with the participant, guardian, and broader multidisciplinary team.

- A willingness to receive feedback and adapt support strategies accordingly;
- A commitment to maintaining the participant's dignity, privacy, and right to choice and control.
Essential Requirements
- Experience supporting individuals with mental health needs and/or psychosocial disability;
- Experience supporting individuals with physical disabilities, chronic pain, or mobility limitations;
- Certificate III or IV in Individual Support, Mental Health, Disability, or equivalent experience;
- Current First Aid and CPR certification;
- Current NDIS Worker Screening Check;
- Current Working with Children Check (or willingness to obtain);
- Current Australian Driver's Licence;
- Access to a reliable motor vehicle with comprehensive insurance;
- Ability to maintain accurate documentation and progress notes.
Desirable Experience
- Experience supporting participants transitioning into Supported Independent Living (SIL);
- Knowledge of trauma-informed and recovery-oriented practice;
- Experience implementing allied health recommendations and therapeutic strategies;
- Experience supporting individuals with both psychosocial and physical support needs.

Pay: $35.00 – $37.00 per hour
