What we are looking for:
This is an exciting opportunity for a proactive aviation professional who enjoys balancing operational leadership with strategic planning and stakeholder engagement.
Reporting to the Airport Manager, you will provide operational leadership and specialist expertise to ensure the safe, secure and compliant operation of Council's airports. Lead a dedicated airport operations team and drive airport safety, security and compliance outcomes, while coordinating projects, emergency preparedness programs and improvement initiatives that support the ongoing growth and capability of Council's airports.
What your day will look like:
- Leading airport operational activities to ensure safety, security and regulatory compliance.
- Coordinating and maintaining key aviation compliance frameworks, plans and manuals.
- Managing airport operational staff, contractors and service providers.
- Building productive relationships with airlines, tenants, regulators and industry stakeholders.
- Coordinating airport projects, contracts, procurements and operational improvement initiatives.
- Supporting emergency preparedness, risk management and compliance reporting activities.
- Providing technical advice to support future airport development and operational capability.

About You:
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
- Extensive experience in airport operations, aviation safety, security and compliance.
- Strong working knowledge of aviation legislation and regulatory requirements.
- Proven leadership experience within an operational environment.
- Experience managing projects, contracts, budgets and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement and problem-solving skills.
What you’ll need for success:
- Airport Reporting Officer qualification.
- Air Radio Licence Certificate.
- Current Queensland Driver Licence.
- Ability to obtain and maintain an Aviation Security Identification Card (ASIC).
