About the Department
The department provides a wide range of learning and development support and services.
The department provides policy leadership, plans for the future of education in Victoria and leads key cross-sector collaboration. The department plays an important system steward role by providing support, guidance, oversight and assurance across early childhood and school education systems, as well as directly providing school education and 50 new early learning centres.
About the Division
The Communications Division collaborates with key stakeholders to strategically shape and deliver communication and community engagement opportunities. The division is responsible for the delivery of communications on behalf of the department to support and improve Victoria's education system. The division support the Victorian Government priorities in early childhood development and school education. This includes engaging with the Department's workforce, supporting the implementation of policies and reforms, protecting, and strengthening the reputation of our education and communications support and advice to the Victorian Government.
About the Digital and Creative Services branch
The branch includes:
- Creative: Design Studio and videography. Responsible for the department brand and visual identity, and its alignment with Victorian Government branding.
- Digital: website, electronic direct mail.
- Content: department newsletters and social media.
About the role
The role requires a qualified and experienced visual designer. The designer will be required to design assets for all digital and traditional communication platforms. The role will specifically lead on the design requirements for the early childhood education portfolio, including campaign advertising. This is a full-time fixed-term role until 1 August 2027.
The Senior Visual Designer:
- Provides leadership in the branding and the design of communications materials
- Provides advice on the most effective visual method to communicate messages to identified audiences, including audiences from diverse backgrounds and with specific needs
- Ensures compliance with accessibility requirements
- Uses expertise in contemporary communication tools across the Creative Cloud suite including: InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator and Acrobat in the preparation of creative assets
- Designs for Microsoft Office, including Word and Powerpoint
- Manages large volumes of campaign assets and resizes
- Manages dispatch of campaign assets, including sourcing information and uploading to SpecSheet (or other relevant platforms) (training provided)
- Leads design asset administration, including application of campaign asset tracking (training provided)
- Ensure compliance with Victorian Government branding and authorisations
- Provides innovative and high-quality visual design solutions for digital and print products, on brand, to brief, and within agreed timelines.
