Principal Advisor, Workplace Relations
- Salary: $142,790 - $166,938 (Plus Superannuation)

The Role
The role is responsible for the delivery of the full range of workplace relations functions and will play a lead role in providing expert workplace relations advice and support at all levels within the department and across its portfolio agencies.
Main accountabilities:
- Providing high-level guidance on complex issues, departmental strategy, and operational improvements.
- Managing projects, and mentoring staff.
- Contributing to the development and implementation of policies, including drafting departmental briefs and ministerial correspondence.
- Building and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders.
The Team
The position of Principal Advisor, Workplace Relations forms a part of the People and Culture branch within the Corporate Services group.
The Corporate Services group consists of specialist functions including finance, investment and procurement, performance and governance, legal and legislation, people and culture, information technology and workplace services and emergency management.
About You
The successful candidate will ideally have the following skills and experience:
- Interpersonal Skills: Builds relationships at senior levels; Acts as a convenor between teams and departments to build collaboration.
- Influence and Persuasion: Implements complex strategies to build buy-in from key internal and external clients/stakeholders; Effectively negotiates with clients/stakeholders to achieve desired outcomes.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Identifies and manages a range of complex and often competing needs; Facilitates innovative solutions to resolve stakeholder issues.
- A relevant tertiary degree in either Industrial Relations, Human Resources, or Employment Law will be well regarded.
