Primary objective
Supports and provides collaborative, appropriate, proficient, coordinated direct and indirect clinical care for complex client presentations,
including working with and alongside less experienced nursing and midwifery staff, within the specialty area.
Context statement
Employing extensive experience, skills and knowledge in the remote practice setting the successful applicant will work collaboratively with the
multi-disciplinary team servicing remote clinics. The successful applicant will work closely with internal and external stakeholders to ensure
Aboriginal specific and culturally appropriate services are provided. Experience driving a manual vehicle and eligibility to obtain an NT driver’s
licence along with a willingness to travel to remote communities on a regular basis by either 4WD or light plane is inherent to the role. The
successful applicant will be required to participate in a 24/7 emergency on call roster and must be current with or willing to attain vaccination,
remote emergency management, and midwifery emergency management certification.
Key duties and responsibilities

and management of the team.
3. Accountable for providing sound professional advice and for assessment, planning, review, evaluation and coordination of comprehensive
client care and/or case management within the speciality area.

5. Follow defined service quality standards, work health and safety policies and procedures relating to the work being undertaken in order to
ensure high quality, safe services and workplaces.

Selection criteria
Essential
1. Current registration with Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia or eligible for same.
2. Demonstrated highly developed clinical knowledge and skills in relevant area of nursing/midwifery supporting well developed clinical
decision-making and problem solving to achieve best practice outcomes for healthcare consumers.
3. Demonstrate and promote a learning environment through clinical support, instruction, and feedback including mentoring students,
graduates and less experienced staff across the multidisciplinary team.
4. Experience contributing to the development and implementation of local/regional policy, including interpreting established professional
precedents and organisational policies and supporting change management.
5. Demonstrated use of effective communication skills to influence and convince staff and/or clients, including on sensitive matters requiring
tact and diplomacy
6. Demonstrates well-developed knowledge and understanding of the social and cultural issues, influences and sensitivities that influence
health care provision for clients and families.
Desirable
1. Graduate Certificate beyond entry-to-practice relevant to specialty area.
