Perth, Western Australia
Korn Ferry has partnered with our client, Japan Australia LNG (MIMI) Pty Ltd, to appoint a Tax and Accounting Advisor based in Perth.
About MIMI
Japan Australia LNG (MIMI) Pty Ltd, commonly known as MIMI, is an Australian-resident company established in 1985 as a 50:50 joint venture between Mitsubishi Corporation and Mitsui & Co Ltd. MIMI manages the partners’ equity in major Australian LNG projects and plays a key role in supplying liquefied natural gas to Asian power and gas utilities under long-term contracts.
With interests in the North West Shelf Venture and the Browse Joint Venture, MIMI represents the strong and enduring collaboration between Japan and Australia in the energy sector. The organisation is entering an important phase as it prepares for Browse FEED entry and continues to modernise systems and processes to support the next stage of its portfolio.
The Opportunity
MIMI is seeking a Tax and Accounting Advisor to join its tax function in Perth. Reporting to the Tax Manager, this hands-on role will primarily support tax compliance, tax accounting, reporting and advisory activities across a complex LNG joint venture environment.
Depending on business priorities and capability, the role may also provide support across broader finance and accounting activities, offering exposure to both technical tax and broader finance and accounting responsibilities.
This role is well suited to an early-career tax professional seeking to build technical depth across corporate income tax, tax accounting and financial reporting, while gaining exposure to senior stakeholders and complex multi-entity tax matters. The role has no people leadership responsibilities, but offers meaningful exposure to Finance, Commercial, Legal and JV stakeholder groups.
What You Will Be Involved In

-
Assist with implementation of tax strategy across projects, investments and joint venture arrangements, including capital projects and commercial transactions.

-
Support engagement with the ATO, external advisors and auditors on technical matters, reviews, disputes, tax provisioning and forecasting.
-
Prepare tax compliance, reporting and tax accounting inputs across Corporate Income Tax, PRRT, GST, FBT, Royalties, Excise, PAYG, including supporting tax effect calculations, deferred tax analysis and financial statement disclosures.
-
Support selected financial accounting, analysis and reporting activities.
-
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across finance and reporting processes.
-
Assist with ESG and sustainability reporting requirements where relevant.
About You
-
5+ years’ tax experience in professional services, a corporate tax function or similar environment; resources-sector exposure would be advantageous.
-
Strong technical capability in Australian taxation, with exposure to tax accounting, deferred tax calculations and financial reporting processes viewed favourably.
-
Financial accounting knowledge and the ability to analyse financial information, support business decision-making and collaborate effectively with Finance stakeholders.
-
Strong analytical, research and communication skills, with the confidence to engage constructively with senior stakeholders, tax authorities and external advisors.
-
Tertiary qualification in Law, Accounting, Commerce or a related discipline; CA qualification preferred. CPA-qualified candidates may also be considered where supported by relevant experience and broader commercial capability.
-
Demonstrated adaptability and willingness to work across a broad spectrum of finance responsibilities, balancing technical tax matters with wider business and reporting requirements.
-
Exposure to ESG or sustainability reporting would be advantageous but is not essential.
-
Collaborative mindset, sound judgement and cultural awareness, with the ability to work effectively in a multicultural, relationship-driven organisation.
