Employment type: Full-time, ongoing — 38 hours per week
Salary: $72,000 – $80,000 per annum, plus superannuation (commensurate with experience)
About the role
Wine Library a Mediterranean-inspired wine bar in Woollahra, is looking for an experienced Chef to work our kitchen. This is a hands-on role responsible for the day-to-day running of the kitchen, menu development, and delivering the seasonal, produce-driven food that sits alongside our wine offering. You'll work closely with the owners and front-of-house team to maintain quality, consistency and a genuine sense of hospitality.
Key responsibilities
- Plan, develop and cost a Mediterranean-focused menu, including seasonal and à la carte dishes
- Prepare, season and cook food to a consistently high standard
- Order and manage stock, monitor food cost and minimise wastage
- Supervise, train and roster kitchen staff
- Maintain kitchen hygiene, food safety and OH&S standards (HACCP)
- Liaise with suppliers and oversee receipt and storage of produce
Skills and experience required
- Minimum 4 years' experience as a Chef in a comparable venue
- Relevant qualification — Certificate III or IV in Commercial Cookery (or equivalent overseas qualification/experience)
- Demonstrated experience with Mediterranean cuisine
- Proven ability in menu planning, food costing and kitchen supervision
- Strong knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards
- Ability to work autonomously and lead a small team
