About Us:
Parkville Youth Mental Health and Wellbeing Service (PYMHWS) is Victoria’s newest public mental health service dedicated to the care of young people aged 12 to 25 experiencing complex mental health challenges.

The Opportunity:
The Refugee Access Service provides triage, assessment and supported linkages for newly arrived refugee or asylum-seeking infants, children and young people and their families and carers with the aim of reducing barriers to accessing mental health services.
The model of care incorporates a high degree of partnership with settlement services, specialist trauma services, and education settings, in order to identify and respond to those who may be experiencing mental ill-health as well as providing support through capacity building projects.
The Refugee Access Services’ operational work hours Monday-Friday 9.00am – 5pm. The central location of the service is at the Parkville site however day-to-day operations will be based in other services and PYMHWS sites within the catchment area.

About You:
A skilled mental health professional with experience engaging and assessing children and young people with complex mental health difficulties, with a passion for improving pathways for newly-arrived refugee children, young people and their families.
You bring a client-centred, evidence-based approach to care that is trauma-informed and developmentally tailored, with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team. You value inclusivity, cultural safety, and continuous learning, and you're committed to delivering responsive, high-quality mental health support.
Your strong communication, clinical, and organisational skills enable you to build effective therapeutic relationships and navigate complex care systems with confidence and compassion.
✔️ Eligible disciplines: RPN Grade 4 / Occupational Therapist, Social Worker Grade 4/ Psychologist Grade 3
✔️ Relevant registration and qualifications (see position description for details)
✔️ Minimum of 7 years' experience in clinical mental healthcare, and specifically with children and/or young people experiencing mental health disorders, and their families
✔️ Experience in mental health triage triage, assessment, risk assessment and safety planning
✔️ Experience in tailoring and engaging children and/or young people and families brief mental health interventions
