Position Overview
The Quality Assurance Officer (QAO) is responsible for supporting academic quality assurance, regulatory compliance, accreditation processes, governance activities, and continuous improvement initiatives across Imperial Engineering Education as a private higher education provider in Australia.
The role ensures institutional compliance with:
- Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency (TEQSA)
- Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF)
- Higher Education Standards Framework (Threshold Standards) 2021
- Engineers Australia (EA) accreditation requirements and graduate competency standards
- Institutional academic governance frameworks and policies
The QAO supports the quality and compliance requirements for:
- Bachelor of Engineering Technology
- Master of Engineering Management
The position works collaboratively with the CEO, Academic Dean, Course Coordinators, Lecturers, and Administrative Staff to ensure academic integrity, continuous improvement, student success, and regulatory compliance across all academic and operational functions.
Key Responsibilities
1. Academic Quality Assurance
- Support implementation and monitoring of the institute’s Quality Assurance and Continuous Improvement Framework.
- Assist in ensuring compliance with the Higher Education Standards Framework (Threshold Standards) 2021.
- Monitor academic quality processes relating to:
- teaching and learning
- assessment moderation and validation
- academic integrity
- student progression and retention
- student feedback and satisfaction
- course review and improvement
- Maintain evidence and records demonstrating compliance with institutional quality standards and external regulatory requirements.
- Support systematic monitoring and evaluation of academic delivery and learning outcomes.
2. TEQSA Compliance and Regulatory Support
- Assist in maintaining institutional compliance with TEQSA registration and ongoing regulatory requirements.
- Prepare and maintain compliance documentation, registers, reports, and evidence for:
- TEQSA audits
- provider registration and renewal
- compliance reviews
- governance reporting
- Support implementation and monitoring of corrective actions arising from audits, reviews, and risk assessments.
- Assist in maintaining policies and procedures aligned with Australian higher education legislation and standards.
- Support CRICOS-related compliance activities where applicable.
Key Selection Criteria
Essential Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Engineering, Management, Quality Assurance, Higher Education, or a related discipline.
Essential Knowledge and Experience
- Experience in academic quality assurance, compliance, or academic administration within an Australian higher education environment.
- Extensive experience and knowledge in managing compliance with HESF, ESOS Act, National Code, HESA, and RTO Standards.
- Demonstrated knowledge of TEQSA requirements. AQF framework,Higher Education Standards Framework (Threshold Standards)
- Academic governance systems
- Quality assurance processes
- Understanding of Engineers Australia accreditation processes and graduate competency standards.
- Experience supporting audits, accreditation activities, or compliance reviews.
- Knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies and risk management practices.
