Position Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Occupational Therapist to join our team at First Step Therapies.
The ideal candidate is enthusiastic about working with a multidisciplinary team and is keen to develop their skills in the profession. They are also dedicated to promoting independence and improving the quality of life for our clients.
As we support clients of all ages, we are able to offer a variety of caseloads, including paediatrics, teens and/or adults.
We are always looking to support the therapist’s area of passion.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct assessments to identify client needs and develop personalised treatment plans.
- Provide individual and group therapy sessions, focusing on sensory integration, fine motor and gross motor skills, mental health, and activities of daily living.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including speech pathologists, counsellors, and allied health assistants, to ensure comprehensive care.
- Educate and support families, caregivers, and teachers on strategies to enhance clients' progress.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date client records and progress reports.
- Stay informed about the latest research and best practices in occupational therapy.
Qualifications/permits:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in occupational therapy
- Valid AHPRA registration as an occupational therapist
- Valid QLD Drivers License
- Valid QLD Blue Card

At First Step Therapies we don’t impose KPI expectations onto staff, nor do we believe in work taking priority over life. We also believe that to conduct good quality work there must be time for good quality preparation and follow up. That is why our case loads are capped for therapist’s and why we only see clients Monday to Thursday. We believe in a way of work that lets us exist outside of our 9-5.
