About the Role
AAA Egg Company Pty Ltd is looking for a highly skilled and qualified Poultry Technician to work full-time on farms located in Bullsbrook, Muchea, Gingin and Hill River. In this role, you will be responsible for:
- Leading and monitoring farm workers based on activities assigned by the Farm Manager or Farm 2IC
- Providing technical services and maintenance of Big Dutchman electronics and mechanical equipment
- Providing technical support, breakdown and fault analysis, and troubleshooting
- Providing technical and operational training to other technicians, fitters, and site teams
- Planning and performing overall preventative and corrective maintenance
- Performing testing, commissioning and technical training across all sites
- Performing upgrades and site integrations
- Being on call on a rostered rotating system to attend breakdowns after normal hours
- Coordinating site Big Dutchman technical upgrades
- Planning and supervising contractors during upgrades, servicing, rectification and maintenance across all sites
- Administering different types of vaccines to birds via drinking water, spray, intramuscular and ocular methods
- Conducting shed checks, maintaining daily farm records, and immediately reporting issues (e.g. chicken health, mortality, broken equipment) to the Manager or 2IC
- Assisting with brooding, including monitoring of chicks' behaviour, mortality trends, temperature, humidity, ammonia levels, ventilation, and feed/water availability
- Assisting with the shifting of birds to other AAA Layer Farms
- Ensuring proper vaccination of birds and correct numbers prior to transferring birds to trucks using bird trolleys
- Ensuring Australian Standards on Animal Welfare and Biosecurity are practiced in all farm activities
- Daily monitoring of flock health, feed, water, ventilation and mortality
- Ensuring biosecurity protocols are followed by all staff and visitors
- Managing feed inventory, forecasting, and ordering
- Daily monitoring of range areas to ensure no breach of perimeter fencing that could allow predators through
- Daily collection and disposal of mortality birds
- Monitoring proper egg handling from sheds to the egg room
- Entering production data into the computer on a daily, weekly and monthly basis
- Analysing production and mortality trends
- Administering medications as prescribed by the veterinarian for flock health issues
- Monitoring and reporting any maintenance issues on the farm to the assigned maintenance team
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- A relevant Diploma or at least three years of proven relevant work experience
- An understanding of regulatory and legislative requirements relating to the manufacture of food products
- Mechanical engineering knowledge of sophisticated automated feeding and housing equipment
- Responsibility for Occupational Health & Safety, ensuring a high standard of safety, health and wellbeing for all staff and contractors, and compliance with the Occupational Safety & Health Act 1984
- An understanding of the requirements of various quality systems and customer requirements, including HACCP, SQF2000, WQA and McDonald's
Salary
If successful, you will be paid a salary of $80,000 AUD per annum.
Pay: $75,000.00 – $80,888.00 per year
