The Role
An opportunity has arisen for a Junior Lawyer (1-3 years’ PQE) to join our Sydney Insurance team supporting Stephen Vardanega and Leah Pryde. You will be predominantly involved in matters relating to personal injury (some property damage) in the areas of public liability, CTP and professional negligence.
This role will see you working with some of Australia’s largest insurers, with responsibilities including:
Preparing draft advices on liability and damages;
Conducting thorough investigations into claims;
Analysing and advising on expert reports and documents produced on subpoena;
Drafting and filing legal documents including Subpoenas, Defences and Cross Claims;
Preparing for and attending interlocutory Court applications in the Supreme Court, District Court and PIC;
Attending settlement and witness conferences, mediations and hearings
Conducting legal research;
Staying abreast of changes in laws and regulations;
Collaborating with internal teams and external parties to achieve positive outcomes for clients; and
Building and maintaining strong client relationships.
Who We Are Looking For
The ideal candidate will have the following:
Between 1-3 years’ experience in insurance litigation, or alternatively, general litigation will be considered;
Excellent research, writing and analytical skills
Ability to operate in a high-volume and fast-paced environment
Demonstrated experience in managing competing deadlines
A collaborative mindset with a willingness to learn
