Are you passionate about garment construction, quality craftsmanship, and attention to detail? Tania Olsen Designs is looking for an experienced Seamstress & Quality Control Specialist to join our growing team in Brisbane.
As one of Australia's leading bridal, bridesmaid, and formalwear designers, we pride ourselves on delivering beautifully crafted gowns to over 300 boutiques across Australia and internationally. This is an exciting opportunity to work with a passionate team dedicated to creating exceptional gowns and ensuring every piece meets our high-quality standards before reaching our customers.
About the Role
This hands-on role combines garment alterations, repairs, and quality control. You will play an integral part in maintaining the exceptional standard of every gown that leaves our warehouse.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct detailed quality inspections on bridal, bridesmaid, and formal gowns.
- Identify and report any manufacturing faults or inconsistencies.
- Perform garment repairs and finishing, including:
- Hand sewing
- Machine sewing
- Hemming
- Replacing zippers
- Repairing seams
- Minor alterations
- Applying embellishments where required
- Steam and prepare garments for dispatch and photoshoots.
- Ensure garments are presented to the highest standard before shipment.
- Assist with incoming sample inspections.
- Work closely with our design and warehouse teams to resolve quality issues.
- Maintain an organised and efficient work area.
- Assist with continuous improvement of quality control procedures.
About You
We're looking for someone who is passionate about garment construction and takes genuine pride in producing beautiful work.
You will ideally have:
- Previous experience as a seamstress, garment machinist, bridal seamstress, or quality control specialist.
- Excellent sewing skills, both by machine and by hand.
- A strong understanding of garment construction and fit.
- Exceptional attention to detail.
- The ability to identify faults and provide practical repair solutions.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills.
- The ability to work independently while also contributing to a collaborative team environment.
- A positive attitude and strong work ethic.
Experience working with bridal, formalwear, evening wear, or delicate fabrics such as tulle, lace, satin, chiffon, and beaded garments will be highly regarded.
