Lead mine planning support for BUMA’s operations and tenders as a Principal Mining Engineer, based at our South Brisbane corporate office.

About the Role:
We are now seeking a Principal Mining Engineer to join our corporate office in South Brisbane to provide mine planning support to current projects and tender submissions. You will work in accordance with the company values and demonstrate commitment, active involvement and leadership.
Key responsibilities include:
- Provide short term planning resources and support as required for the operating sites
- Support existing operations through the development of medium and longer term mine plans
- Provide site coverage as required
- Provided mentoring and development of junior engineers
- Keep up to date with technical and operating advances in the industry to ensure the competitiveness of the methods employed in mine planning
- Participate in the review, study and implementation of mine planning activities
- Participate in site-based projects aimed at achieving industry best practice
- Assist in the supply of mine planning and design services for use in the preparation of mining proposals and tenders
- Verify mine planning data used in the preparation of tenders to ensure uniformity and accuracy
About You:
- Tertiary qualifications in mining or civil engineering or related discipline
- 8+ years’ open cut experience
- Experience in the design and operating aspects of coal and/or hard rock mines, including short and mid term mine design and planning
- Exposure to Life of Mine considerations highly regarded (Optimisations, Pre/feasibility studies, long term designs, long term scheduling, fleet optimisations)
- Competent in use of mining CAD and scheduling software; experience in Deswik and SPRY highly regarded
- Competent in use of Microsoft suite
- Exposure to other mining engineering related disciplines (eg survey, geology, geotechnical, drill and blast, dragline, coal quality, estimating) highly regarded
- Technical and analytical skills in relation to mining activities and mining equipment
- Excellent communication
