About the Lavarack Health Centre
Lavarack Health Centre is located in Townsville at Lavarack Barracks, the largest Army base in Australia. It includes the Operational Deployment Force and facilities to undertake mission rehearsal exercises prior to deployment. The facility provides primary medical, underwater medical, surgical outpatient, dental, nursing, physiotherapy, mental health, and pharmaceutical care to approximately 8000 members. It also operates a 24/7 inpatient low dependency ward. The standard operating hours of the centre are generally 0700-1630 Monday – Friday
What you’ll do

Cover planned and unplanned leave for the health centre

Deliver high quality primary healthcare, including health assessments and vaccinations or monitor and manage patients in a low dependency ward setting

Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, including general practitioners, physios, mental health clinicians, and dental professionals

Support Defence members through injury recovery, chronic condition management, and preventative care
What you bring

Unrestricted AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse

Minimum one year Registered Nurse experience in acute care, primary health care or military setting

Current CPR certification (HLTAID009)

Australian Citizenship required (Baseline Security Clearance)

Commitment to CPD and ethical, patient centred care

Ability to work a 24/7 roster

This role is primarily Monday to Friday (day shift) within a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
