About Us:
The Cairns and Hinterland Mental Health, Alcohol and Other Drugs Service is responsible for delivering Mental Health, Alcohol and Other Drugs Services throughout the Cairns and Hinterland Hospital and Health Service and for supporting other Mental Health, Alcohol and Other Drugs Services in the surrounding Hospital and Health Services of Cape York, Torres Strait Northern Peninsula Area.
Cairns and Hinterland Hospital and Health Service (CHHHS) is experiencing significant growth in demand, driven by the higher-than-average population growth, relatively low socioeconomic status and high burden of disease related to mental health and problematic substance use or dependence. The CHHHS has the largest absolute population of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island First Nations peoples of any HHS in Queensland.
About you:
In your new role you will:
Provide expert leadership and management to build and maintain a high functioning, high performing team through positive role-modelling behaviours and attitudes, highly developed communication and interpersonal skills including consultation, liaison, negotiation and conflict resolution.
Lead and encourage the Nursing and Midwifery team to achieve the strategic and operational goals and key performance indicators within a positive culturally mature workplace.
Lead the strategic advice, coordination and development of policy, regulation and guidelines for professional nursing and midwifery programs and initiatives that directly support the successful achievements of the MHAOD Service.
Provide authoritative strategic leadership and advice that influences contemporary nursing/midwifery practice and health care delivery across the MHAOD Service.
Consults and collaborates with relevant stakeholders to promote nursing and midwifery professions, education, and research activities across the MHAOD Service.
