Pricing Analyst — Job Description
Summary
Analyze pricing, market trends, and customer data to develop and maintain pricing strategies that maximize revenue, margin, and competitive positioning.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain pricing models, frameworks, and strategies for products or services.
- Analyze sales, margin, cost, and competitive data to identify pricing opportunities, risks, and segmentation.
- Conduct market research and competitor benchmarking to inform price positioning and promotions.
- Build and maintain dashboards and reports tracking price performance, elasticity, win/loss, and key pricing KPIs.
- Collaborate with commercial teams (sales, marketing, product, finance) to set list prices, discounts, promotions, and approval workflows.
- Run pricing experiments (A/B tests), scenario analyses, and sensitivity analyses to measure impact on volume and revenue.
- Support deal reviews, bid pricing, and negotiate pricing terms for key accounts or contracts.
- Maintain price lists, catalogs, and pricing systems; ensure pricing data integrity and governance.
- Implement and optimize price optimization tools, CPQ systems, and pricing automation where applicable.
- Provide pricing recommendations for product launches, renewals, and special offers.
- Prepare business cases, ROI analyses, and executive summaries for pricing decisions and strategic initiatives.
- Train stakeholders on pricing policies, tools, and best practices.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business, Statistics, or related field, or equivalent experience.
- 2+ years experience in pricing, revenue management, analytics, or related commercial analytics roles.
- Strong analytical skills and proficiency with SQL, Excel (advanced functions), and data visualization tools (Tableau, Power BI).
- Experience building statistical or econometric models for price elasticity, demand forecasting, or revenue optimization.
- Familiarity with pricing platforms, CPQ, or ERP systems is a plus.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills; ability to present actionable recommendations.
- Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving and business acumen.
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced degree (MS, MBA) or relevant certifications.
- Experience with Python/R for statistical modeling and machine learning techniques.
- Background in B2B pricing, subscription/SaaS pricing, retail/CPG pricing, or yield management.
- Knowledge of A/B testing design, experimentation platforms, and causal inference methods.
- Experience implementing price governance, discount policies, and pricing playbooks.
Pay: $45.23 – $65.13 per hour
