HillSide Christian College is an evangelical Christian school in Forrestfield, with around 460 students from four-year-old Kindy to Year 12.
About the Role
We're seeking a full-time Gardener to maintain and develop our grounds. The College is known for its beautiful landscapes, and this role is central to keeping that standard. As our grounds reflect the College's Christian mission, the successful candidate must meet the religious requirements below.
Salary is based on the College's Administration Pay Scale (above Award rate), with the level reflecting your experience.
Key Duties
- Lead development and upkeep of garden beds, lawns, ovals and grounds
- Manage all reticulation and water management, including installation and troubleshooting
- Prepare grounds and sports line marking for College events
- Carry out pressure cleaning and proactive maintenance of paths, paving, playgrounds and gutters
- Undertake basic building maintenance and repairs, including painting, plastering, plumbing and carpentry
- Identify, make safe and report major maintenance or OH&S issues
- Order, operate and maintain power tools and machinery, keeping service logs current
- Support College events with set-up, pack-up and moving equipment
- Other duties as required by the Principal or their delegate
About You
Essential
- At least two years' experience as a Gardener
- Sound OH&S knowledge, particularly safe use and storage of chemicals
- Ability to operate and maintain power tools and machinery
Desirable
- Heavy Vehicle Licence (HR/MR Class or similar)
- Current Senior First Aid Certificate
- Qualifications in horticulture or a related field
You'll bring strong interpersonal skills, work well both in a team and independently, and know when to consult your line manager.
Eligibility Requirements
Before commencing, you will need a current Working with Children Check, satisfactory National Police Clearance, current 'C' Class Driver's Licence, and proof of unrestricted work rights in Australia. You'll also need to provide copies of relevant qualifications and sign the College's Code of Conduct (including Faith Statement) and Employment Contract.

Pay: $27.00 – $34.00 per hour
