ABOUT THE ROLE...
Guided by Zoos SA’s values, you will play a key role in maintaining and enhancing our Monarto Safari Park and Wild Africa sites undertaking construction duties, and routine and reactive maintenance of animal habitat and general asset infrastructure, to ensure they meet with requisite compliance standards while working across a 7-day roster.
Duties of this role will vary and may include:

Assist trades personnel with repair, construction, fabrication and demolition work.

General maintenance of animal and general asset infrastructure to ensure structures and safe and are maintained to the highest standards
-
Carry out minor maintenance / new work duties with minimal supervision.

Undertake basic maintenance of vehicles, plant and equipment, including fueling and checking tire pressures.
-
Maintain roads and tracks.
-
Collect, transport and deliver items to and from the Zoo, including rubbish and waste materials.
-
Clean items as required, including vehicles, drains, gutters, and equipment.
-
Erect and maintain signage, rubbish bins, furniture, fences and similar.
-
Change light globes and tubes.
-
Operate heavy machinery such as forklift truck, sweepers, tractors, vehicles and trucks where licensed and required.

Assist trade personnel to clean and maintain all relevant work areas including immediate areas around workshops.

Identify and report maintenance defects.
ABOUT YOU…
To be successful in this role you will need to meet the following selection criteria:
-
A current driver’s licence, manual capability desirable
-
General hand experience assisting trades within a facility management environment
-
A broad range of skills/experience in various maintenance fields, i.e. carpentry, metal work, fencing, plumbing, concreting, paving, electrical, mechanical, painting, etc
-
High level of experience in maintenance techniques and practices
-
A strong understanding of Workplace Health and Safety principles
-
Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with colleagues and volunteers
Desirable candidates will also have:
-
Experience working on rural/farm/remote properties/sites.
-
Experience in metal fabrication and/or welding
-
Experience using heavy machinery such as excavators, dump trucks, loaders, etc
-
Experience with automatic gate systems
-
A Medium Rigid Licence
-
Tickets or licences such as Working at Heights, forklift trucks, sweeper, tractors, front-end loader, chainsaw, elevated work platforms, etc.
